From FREE FITNESS CLASSES to LIVING HISTORY TOURS, find out what we’re planning this weekend …
WHY: We’re looking forward to visiting House at the RDS, Dublin this weekend. It starts tomorrow Friday 25 and runs until May 27, with visual inspiration aplenty for nesters and design aficionados. This year there’s a dedicated Art Loft, an Upcycling area and an impressive schedule of Design Clinics and Trend Talks led by local and international design experts. We’re looking forward to visiting Zelouf + Bell’s stand (B2), where the design duo will be showing their “Heaven and Earth” series of which this Crow Cocktail Cabinet is a part. www.house-event.ie.
WHY: Celebrating women in business and racing, Leopardstown is hosting a Moët & Chandon Afternoon Tea, in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland on Friday, May 25. The stylish event in the Leopardstown Pavilion Mezzanine, with views over the racetrack, is part of the annual Leopardstown Ladies Evening and will be hosted by Triona McCarthy, with champion trainer Anne Marie O’Brien also participating. Tickets are available from www.leopardstown.com and only come in pairs, costing €130.
WHAT: We’re keen to check out Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre’s new summer programme of daily Living History Tours, which look fun and educational, taking visitors from Vikings to Victorian eras and more besides. Climbing the battlements for panoramic views of the sea and mountains, trying out a longbow and enjoying theatre performances from the Deilg Inis Living History Theatre Company are all included. For bibliophiles, the state-of-the-art Heritage Centre and a Writers’ Gallery, featuring the work of 45 writers and artists from James Joyce to Maeve Binchy is an inspiring way to pass a Saturday afternoon. Drop in tours are €9.50 for an adult and €7.50 for a child under 12. A family ticket is €25.00: www.dalkeycastle.com or telephone 01 2858366.
WHERE: The family-run Step House Hotel, on Main Street, Borris is a gourmet hideaway, with a lovely garden and welcoming ambience. Their summer wedding showcase is on this Sunday May 27 from 2pm – 5pm, when brides and grooms-to-be can view the boutique beauty in full summer bloom. There will be bubbly and canapés and the chance to view the ballroom, honeymoon suite and a selection of guest rooms. www.stephousehotel.ie
AND: A free exercise initiative starts this weekend which sounds like just the incentive needed to kick start the beach body bootcamp and make new friends. Summer Stretch Series 2018, comprises ten free fitness events hosted by ten different trainers in ten different outdoor locations around the country. Starting on Sunday May 27 at Anytime Fitness, Dublin 8, it runs each Sunday for two months, finishing on July 29. The sessions involve a collaborative group fitness workout followed by coffee and chats afterwards.
Details of the full line up for Summer Series will be announced in the coming weeks on www.gympluscoffee.com.
