Designer TOM WALSH tells THE GLOSS about his vintage-inspired brand CIRCUS (sold at CAROUSEL) which is loved by media personalities such as Clodagh McKenna, Cathy Davey and Sharon Heron-Smith …
“I create all the prints and body shapes myself and they are designed in-house. We make our own dress patterns and prints as well as developing our own fabrics. Currently we have over 150 boutiques across Europe and in the USA stocking our products. I trained in Selfridges in London in the late 80s and early 90s, returning to Dublin in 1992. Around 2010/11 when retail became particularly tough I had to find a viable way of staying in business. I travelled to Korea, Thailand and finally India before finding a factory that I could work with to create the brand Circus. This gives us huge flexibility to react to popular styles and create unique designs. Whilst the range is vintage-inspired the brand is very modern or at least relevant to today. Rather than vintage, I think the shapes are classic with a modern twist.”
