From a Meet the Makers event with a host of IRISH DESIGNERS to a WEDDING FAIR at Dunboyne Castle, here’s what we’re planning this weekend …
WHERE? Before dinner next door at Wilde in The Westbury, we’re popping in to see Solomon Fine Art’s annual Easter Group Exhibition. It’s a mix of paintings, sculpture and print by leading Irish artists and includes work by Eilis O’Connell RHA, Anthony Scott RUA and John Behan RHA. We particularly like the floral works by Austin Hearne and Frances Ryan’s botanical prints, as well as Stephanie Hess’s playful bronze Acrobats. www.solomonfineart.ie. The exhibition continues until April 19.
WHY? We’re heading into town for some retail therapy at Arnotts, where the new Karen Millen SS17 collection has just landed. We’ve had a preview and the collection features investment pieces that are strong on tailoring. Our picks include the statement white shirt, python print silk dress, a versatile cinnamon lightweight trench (that can be deconstructed) and suede flats with ruffling details. www.arnotts.ie.
WHAT? The d hotel in Drogheda has devised an original package to satisfy our Game of Thrones fixation in addition to providing a stylish base from which to explore the city. They are offering guided paddling tours on the Boyne River in hand-crafted Kerry Naomhog currachs – the same boats from the show. Guests will also be immersed in the history of Ireland’s largest, legendary battle. With prices starting at €85 per person sharing, The King’s Package includes an overnight stay, welcome refreshments, hearty breakfast, and a delicious packed lunch, all with a great riverside location. www.thedhotel.com, +353 41 98 777 00.
