Your GLOSSY GUIDE to the weekend is here. We’re planning trips to the THEATRE, a spot of SHOPPING and Friday night at HENNESSY’S LOST FRIDAYS …
WHY? After 33 years as Artistic Director of the Gate Theatre, Michael Colgan is presenting his final farewell; a festival of plays by three of the most iconic writers in theatre – Samuel Beckett, Brian Friel and Harold Pinter. The line up includes Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter and One for the Road, Beckett’s First Love and Eh Joe and Friel’s The Yalta Game and Afterplay, as well as a selection of poetry and prose readings. The Dumb Waiter starts this week and is a humorous and provocative story of two hit men, told with Pinter’s unmistakable wit, as they wait in a basement for their next assignment.. Performance times this week are: Thursday 9 March – 9pm, Friday 10 March – 9pm, Saturday 11 March 9pm. We’re also booking ahead to see Sir Michael Gambon in Beckett’s Eh Joe that starts on Wednesday March 15 and is directed by Atom Egoyan. www.gatetheatre.ie, (01) 874 4045.
